I am a strong believer in the teaching profession, and I take teaching seriously. All students are capable of learning, and it is my job to help and guide them in whatever way they need. I consider students to be one of our nation's greatest assets, and I am honored to be a part of teaching them. I am committed to being a positive role model for my students as well as a successful teacher. All of this does not mean, however, that I am too serious in the classroom. I am very enthusiastic about learning, and strive to make learning fun for students through an enhanced learning environment. I want my students to be excited and engaged by the learning process. I enjoy being part of a network of people supporting students and helping them to succeed. My areas of expertise are education and social studies. I am available to tutor students in many subjects including history, geography, English, mathematics, and study skills and organization.I completed both my undergraduate work and my Master of Education degree at Wilmington University in Delaware. I then went on to sit for the social studies Praxis II exam. I served twenty years in the United States Army, and was engaged in education throughout my career. I have taught in public schools and worked as a substitute teacher. I currently teach elementary classes and middle and high school social studies at a charter school. In my free time I like to spend time outdoors hiking, camping, backpacking, or riding horses.
